Born and raised in Morris, Illinois, I graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1970, and graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1974 with a degree in radio-tv.
I started in radio in 1969 while in high school working at WRMI FM in Morris. The station was owned by Boots and Tillie Greiner of rural Morris. Worked part time at WRMI-WCSJ until 1976. Began full time employment with WCSJ in 1976 working the the sales department and on air. Left WCSJ in 1983 and began working with the Illinois Department of Corrections. Returned to WCSJ in 1988 as a part time newsman. In 1990 I joined the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department and am still there.
I continue to be the Sunday newsman here at WCSJ and WJDK....it’s been a part time job I really enjoy. Dick Steele and myself have been partners Sundays for approximately 25 years.
My wife passed away in 2006 and we have three children, one daughter is married and lives with her husband. My youngest daughter is at home with me, and is a student at Morris High School. My son is in broadcasting and is the news director of a radion station in Ludington, Michigan.
